Was a cute little day trip as we head south towards Italy. While we were only there for a day, it was great as we toured the city’s shops and colorful areas.
The Grand Place was remarkable. The square is definitely the biggest we’ve seen and I wonder what kind of stacks I’d have to make in today’s economy to build buildings like this.
Beyond that we had a free lunch of chocolate samples and waffles (which we learned is definitely a tourist thing as most Dutch people don’t eat waffles). Also, surprising was the size of the waffle. In my mind I was going to get a huge breakfast sized waffle with strawberries and whipped cream like at a local IHOP. To my surprise they came in a little plate with various toppings as they are meant to be a dessert than an actual meal. I have no shame in admitting that I had three throughout the day… mmk. Maybe a little.
It was a pretty standard day, except for the hotel charging me twice!! Ugh. Looks like I’ll be contacting BofA soon.
Now, I’m off to munch on chocolates as we head to Italia. Ciao.
